Building relationships in coffee is important to us, because part of being as truly sustainable as possible means buying from the same producers each year and helping each other where possible. Last year many of you may recall we started a project called Project Sustainability. The long term vision of that project was to create fair value to everyone along the supply chain and add various farms under the projects name over time. On our season end review, we felt that some people took that up to mean an inferior coffee because it happened to be cheaper. So instead this year, after being out to the visit the farm during the summer, we felt it was best to honour the farm by having their name front and centre on the bag. So for now at least, putting a pin in the Project Sustainability name.
It feels great to break bread with the people who we buy coffee from. Being able to walk the farm, meet the workers, explore and see every detail from picking to processing involved a few incredible life moments.
Last year we bought their Bourbon variety, which again was tasting good this season, but when we tasted their Catuaí variety we were even more impressed, so this season thats what we've gone with.
