Its been a long year of waiting, but we have a new Kenyan that we are very excited to introduce - the Karimikui!
This coffee is literally part of history. It was delayed at the Suez Canal behind the Evergreen ship. Various complications (mainly due to the Covid-19) have severely hindered production and delivery of Kenyan coffee this year; however we've been really lucky to get our hands on this coffee that we've had our eye on for a while now.
The Karimikui is a bold and juicy coffee which highlights the best of Kenya has to offer. Standout notes of blueberry and raspberry with a good big body.
Grown at a slightly lower altitude than expected for Kenyan coffee, the Karimikui takes on some characteristics of the tea grown in the region of Kirinyaga. This gives the Karimikui a natural sweetness and vibrancy that is as equally refreshing in both an iced coffee as well as in regular filter brews.
As always, here at PS Coffee Roasters we source only the best coffee in terms of ethics and taste. We sourced this one through our favourite coffee partner Nordic Approach.
Given how hard it was to source this Kenyan given the current market this will very likely be our only Kenyan this year. We only have 2 x 60kg bags of this coffee. We are also aware that Kenyan coffee is one of the few coffees that actually taste better with age! So to try stretch out this coffee and age it a bit we are going to limit the amount of retail bags we are selling each week to approximately 24 bags!
