This Kingha Collective has lovely sweet notes and really reminds you that coffee is a fruit. The acidity is low on this one and while I normally prefer a higher acidity I have to say it suited this one really well. Lovely round notes with good body. The process is called Skin Contact. Essentially this is like the washed process, but honey/mucilage and some skin from the coffee cherry is left on the parchment of the coffee and is left to ferment in a tank. Its then washed like the washed process. So in short its like a more fermented version of a washed process coffee.

This is most definitely recommended for the coffee connoisseur who will enjoy their coffee black. We suggest brewing with a filter brewer like an Aeropress, V60 or Kalita Wave on this one.

We paid over $11USD per kg (raw/unroasted) on this one (before weight loss & every other expense). That is significantly higher than the commodity price of coffee at the moment (currently $2.89 USD per kg on 3/9/20). That said pricing is only part of this story. We believe that effective sustainability will come from trust building relationships with farmers and this is why we love working with Nordic Approach to source most of our coffees like this one.

This coffee is part of a new project with Kingha Estates outgrowers. Kingsley Griffin, the owner of Kingha Estate, is committed to working with local farmers to improve their income, and believes different processing protocols have the potential to increase quality. All our coffees with the name Kingha Collective are coffees from small farms in Kinungu District, the same region as Kingha Estate.
