Attributes: Maple syrup, toffee, sweet, smooth. Undoubtedly the best decaf we have ever had. Its better than some of the fully caffeinated coffees we have! Proof that a decaf can taste good.
This is our first decaf to be processed in this way which we've been told is the most natural way to decaffeinate coffee. Sugar cane which you've read correctly is abundant in Colombia. Firstly they spray the coffee with steam, this opens the pours of the coffee. They then use ethyl acetate (ethanol) made from the sugar cane to decaffeinate the coffee and is then washed in steam again to clean them before being dehydrated back to 11% moisture content and then rebagged for us to roast.
Varietal: Arabica - Colombia, Caturra, Castillo Altitude: 1500m - 2000m
P.S. Suited to those sensitive to caffeine or who want a late evening coffee
